Concrete:

Our recently established concrete division allows us to fully service our client’s needs reducing the need to subcontract. Our new equipment and experienced team have the knowledge and expertise to work on any size job. This industry is a tough one and finding the right people isn't always easy. We believe in our people and we know that those we do hire are have hired are the right fit to get the job done with quality and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure proper level of concrete is smooth.
  • Ensure proper tools are used for the job.
  • Proper finish (broom) is applied.
  • Clean work site of any tools, debris and equipment.
  • Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
  • Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participates in the investigative process.
  • Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a finisher.
  • Must be physically fit and able to bend over for long periods of time
  • Basic carpentry skills and ability to read construction plans considered an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of construction procedures and safety practices.
  • Active Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
  • Ground Disturbance.
  • Valid First Aid.
  • Must have Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean current drivers abstract.
  • Must have own transportation with strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making capabilities.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the work season April to December.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 – 75 lbs. forming material
  • Must have CSA approved safety boots.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Safety courses will be required upon hiring.
  • Additional education or work experience considered an asset.

Controller
Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is accountable for the overall monthly accounting cycle and payroll functions ensuring full cycle monthly accounting, project specific accounting, and financial analysis is completed on a timely and accurate basis
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the monthly financials including reconciling all balance sheet accounts and allocating overhead costs to appropriate divisions
  • Responsible for the coordination of the corporate year-end audit
  • Providing accurate timely financial statements to operations, management, bank and bonding representatives
  • Ensuring adequate internal controls within the organization
  • Assisting in the preparation of Company budgets and analyzing financial results against the budget
  • Treasury management including monitoring cash flow on a weekly and monthly basis and overseeing collections from customers and payments to subs, suppliers, and staff
  • Motivating, supporting and managing an accounting and payroll department including providing performance reviews, career development, and succession planning
  • Complete ad hoc reporting or analysis as required 
  • Responsible for the coordination of purchase orders including processing of receiving
  • Other duties, not listed, may be assigned by the CFO

 

Competencies and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ progressive accounting and business experience
  • Experience managing direct reports

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and be computer savvy

  • Ability to read and interpret relevant documents such as various contracts and financial statements

  • An entrepreneurial attitude, hands-on style, and get it done attitude is required to be successful and fit into the company

  • Strong analytical skills; someone who seeks answers and solutions, process review orientated

  • Previous experience using Eclipse/Explorer is preferred

  • A proven track record guiding companies through process change management

  • Ability to initiate and implement changes and improvements where applicable

  • Impeccable sense of integrity, character and personal values with a desire to grow with the organization

 

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance

  • A CPA designation in good standing would be beneficial

Grading and Paving:

Our grading and paving division has worked on many different types of projects around the city of Calgary from small patches, to sub-divisions to interchanges to large commercial sites and consistently provides the highest quality work on schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Safely operate roller in continuous overlapping passes over asphalt to be compacted to desired depth and smoothness.
  • Operate the roller and other heavy equipment in a safe manner.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks to proactively identify any potential mechanical issues and advises the Foreman.
  • Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
  • Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participates in the investigative process.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assists other employees when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 year experience operating a roller.
  • Active Standard First Aid Certification.
  • Active Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment (excavators/loaders).
  • Must have Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean current drivers abstract.
  • Must have own transportation with strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making capabilities.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the work season April to December.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat up to and could exceed 64 Celsius.
  • Must have CSA approved safety boots.
  • Able to sit for a long periods of time and look over shoulder.
  • Able to climb up and down from equipment.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Safety courses will be required upon hiring.
  • Additional education or work experience considered an asset.

Heavy Equipment Technician
Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Working with a fleet of primarily John Deere and Caterpillar construction equipment
• Troubleshooting and repair hydraulic, electric and engine issues
• Maintaining the service truck in an organized and clean manner at all times
• Complete regular preventative maintenance serviced on equipment
• Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participates in the investigative process where applicable.
• Attends and participates in toolbox and hazard assessment meetings as scheduled.
• Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Able to work independently without supervision.

Qualifications and Experience:
• 2nd or 3rd year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice would be preferred
• Experience with excavators, loaders,and CAT paving equipment would be considered and asset
• Available to work overtime and be able to manage a demanding schedule during our work season
• Previous service truck experience
• Clean Drivers Abstract
• Safety Certificates are considered an asset
• Must have own transportation with strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
• Dedicated, reliable and hard working.
• Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.
