About This Project
Project Location: Calgary Airport
Project Duration: August 28 2017 –October 4 2017
Project Type: Underground
Project Overview: North Star is a prime contractor responsible for the underground works for the development of a new WestJet hangar at the Calgary Airport. Installing new pipelines underground is nothing new for North Star but within this project, we encountered an abandoned sanitary pipeline that was found to have methane and H2S inside of it. Our subcontractor removed both the methane and H2S by injecting nitrogen to push out the gases. After the removal of the gases, North Star was able to efficiently complete the underground works at hand.
Challenges: Removal of abandoned sanitary pipeline that included methane gas
