78 AVENUE SE GRADE SEPARATION & OGDEN PEDESTRIAN TUNNEL
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The 78th Avenue project involved the installation of large box pipes as part of a broader infrastructure upgrade for the City of Calgary. This project included the construction of vehicle and pedestrian tunnels beneath the Canadian Pacific Roadway corridor, aimed at improving mobility and enhancing pedestrian safety around the future Green Line LRT Ogden Station. As a key enabling works initiative, the project reduced risks related to the overall Green Line LRT construction, ensuring a smoother transition to the main LRT development phase. The successful completion of this complex project was vital for supporting the Green Lineβs progress and its impact on the community.
PROJECT DETAILS
The project included installation of storm-water infrastructure and supporting drainage systems to support site servicing and water management. Key quantities completed as part of the scope include:
Installation of 500lm of box culvert pipe
Installation of 150lm of PVC pipe
Installation of 11 box culvert manhole risers
Installation of 3000x3000 vault manholes x3
Installation of 2400x2400 control structure
Placement of approximately 3,200t of drain rock
