NORTH CENTRAL BUS RAPID TRANSIT
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was a key component of the Green Line enabling works, designed as a short-term initiative to improve transit flow and reconfigure lanes in preparation for the future Green Line LRT. The project scope included multiple construction activities along Center Street N, 28 Avenue NW and Country Hills Boulevard NW across nine distinct sites. Work involved extensive roadworks such as grading and paving, including a large mill and overlay operation, as well as curb and gutter realignments. Additionally, pedestrian detours were implemented alongside underground utility upgrades, including catch basins, subdrains, and manholes to support the new road alignments. This project plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless transition for the Green Lineβs long-term development.
PROJECT DETAILS
The project included underground servicing and surface infrastructure works to support roadway and site development. Key quantities completed as part of the scope include:
Installation of 1,250lm of various-sized pipes
Installation of 25 catch basins
Installation of 4 manholes
Placement of approximately 15,000t of aggregate (drain rock and road crush)
Placement of approximately 9,500t of asphalt
Placement of approximately 2,750mΒ³ of concrete
