GRAVES BRIDGE FEEDERMAIN
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The installation of a water mainline on the Graves Bridge, which crosses the Bow River on Glenmore Trail, had begun was the first of its kind in North America and required a year of planning and preparation. Part of the mainline pipe was welded in the North Star yard and then suspended to complete the welds between the eastbound and westbound bridges. This unique project demonstrated North Star’s capabilities and its eagerness to challenge the standard and pursue new opportunities.
PROJECT DETAILS
10 hours of welding per joint, burning over 40lbs of welding rod
44” pipe with a 1” wall thickness (required two welders one on the outside and inside welding continuously)
Pipe was transported to the site in 42m sections
